Hanzala is a multimedia concert built around the life and work of Naji al-Ali, the Palestinian cartoonist whose barefoot character, Hanzala, became one of the most recognized figures in Arab art. The Brooklyn Nomads pair the music of celebrated Arab composers with original songs and newly created animation, tracing a story of art, memory, and identity across generations. Part concert, part moving image, part living archive — it is an evening that invites audiences to look, listen, and draw their own conclusions.
